Alabama Medicaid: Low-Income Health Insurance
Medicaid is another low cost health insurance option for specific low-income and needy people. This program is paid with Federal, state, and county funds. It is one of the largest healthcare programs providing medical and health-related services to Alabama’s lowest income residents–including children, the elderly, blind, and/or disabled.
General Program Requirements:
In order to qualify for Medicaid, you must be an Alabama resident, a U.S. National, citizen, permanent resident, or legal alien, in need of health care/insurance assistance. Eligible Applicants must be characterized as low income or very low income. You must also be either pregnant, blind, have a disability or a disabled family member, be responsible for kids under the age of 19 years of age, or be 65 years of age or older.
